making an EPIC £20000 machine part 4
Part 1- ruclips.net/video/Hnvze1jy0RM/видео.html
Part 2- ruclips.net/video/BHy-AX4ZnNI/видео.html
Part 3- ruclips.net/video/wbZmxablhiU/видео.html
shortened version of first 3 parts- ruclips.net/video/wyR1ZyTX8Vw/видео.html
I was originaly going to save this until I had made a rotary axis, but started editing it to free up some hard drive space and it ended up being an hour long video laready so here is part 4 for you all.
The main goal was to stiffen up the spindle mounting due to some flexing even under fairly light cuts. Doing this also reduced vibration when cutting which should be good for tool life and accuracy.

I made these STUNNING kitchen counter tops (TWICE)
Просмотров 349 тыс.3 месяца назад
SO it turned out I mixed the epoxy resin to the wrong ratio on the first attempt. I do prefer the look of the second attempt though. It would have been a nightmare to try to remove all the bad resin and would have had to ruin the burned wood effect so had to start from scrath unfortunately. Still workign on the rest of the kitchen but hopefully wont be another 2 months before the next video :) ...
Making and fitting a picture frame window
Просмотров 252 тыс.6 месяцев назад
Well, half way through working on the kitchen and the boss decided the window isn't big enough so I had go off and make a new one! She decided it would be a 'picture frame' window without any openings because the extra framework blocks out the light! It's best to just do it, peaceful life and all that. I went into quite a bit of detail on this one. Enjoy! I have been posting regular updates on ...
I re-roofed my entire kitchen by my self and installed a skylight
Просмотров 243 тыс.9 месяцев назад
Well, typical of renovating an old house this isn't! Just got the kitchen ripped out and then the roof starts leaking! I drilled a couple of holes into the ceiling and put a borescope up there but couldn't see anything usefull so decided to bite the bullet and planned to re-do the roof. I summised quite early on that the problem would be the pitch of the roof, those tiles are rated for minum of...

making 160 year old historical mouldings

Previously in the house reno I hag ripped out the old plaster from the hallway wall, this wall has been bowing out and had been repeatedly plastered over to the point of being 2-3 inches thick in places! This plastering and movement in the wall had destroyed the coving along one side of the hallway. The arched window mouldings were long gone and I replaced the hallway arch with a steel lintel b...

    • @NewYorkshireWorkshop
      @NewYorkshireWorkshop 3 дня назад

      im using a Festool RO125, it is a really good sander for renovation. but really once the paint is scraped off the sanding shouldn't be too much of an issue, maybe it is cheap abrasives or you havent got all the paint off and they are clogging? I wouldn't spend too much on a sander just for one staircase.

    • @krista96
      @krista96 2 дня назад

      Thank you for your reply. I sent you the question when I'd only got to the sanding part of your video. Having now watched it all and having seen the getting paint out of pits with pointy tool I can see I was expecting a lot from my sander. I'm now trying to track down sawdust to make filler and wondering if I should invest in the Festool sanding discs? Really good video btw!

    I found out somthing with casting plaster I’m not sure what it is but strawberry volvic water I poured some it as a laugh once to try trick a bloke I was working with long story short … it held the plaster back so much longer then regular water would love to know why or how ! Amazing though

    Nicely done I use a similar technique and it rarely comes off as clean. Lacquer thinner makes the glue melt and it can be wiped off or removed with a bit of wood shaped like a chisel while its soft. Where do you get adhesive discs so big?

    When our house was build, my mom loves reliefs and mouldings on the wall so the workers did the same thing like you did here! They did it on the exterior so they just used cement and scraped it with wood moulding that they shaped before. Very clever

    After being a die-hard GoPro fan and user for 10+ years I've just switched to the DJI Osmo Action 4. Highly recommended if you're looking for a small, light and feature-packed action camera. Native webcam support via USB-C (no battery required) so you could even stream the POV content for monitoring purposes or for viewers with nothing to do during 3 day prints. :) No extra software required to operate as webcam - as a Linux user this is a huge win over GoPro on its own. (Yes you *can* do webcam w/ GoPro but it's a total PITA).

    AMAZING work! Looks so nice. Just wanted to comment and suggest that if you hadn’t already, you should seal the tile grout on the floor. We have the exact same ugly tiles that you tore up in our kitchen and the former owner didn’t seal the grout properly. It gets super dirty over time if you don’t seal it. Great work all around!
